Vintage Nippon Sento Double Fresnel Lens Navigation Light - Masthead Light. This is a Vintage Double Fresnel Nippon Sento Navigation Light salvaged from a once working vessel. Navigation lights are an iconic item in the nautical community.
Red, green, and clear lights are required when away from the dock between sunset and sunrise and periods of restricted visibility. This particular navigation light is a White masthead light. They would be located at the bow of a boat with 225-degree visibility.
It was made in Japan by Nippon Sento Co. This double-stacked light is made of solid brass and copper. It measures 17.50 inches tall by 11 inches wide (including the metal sticking out of the sides).The base measures 9 inches by 9.5 inches including the mount leg, it has 1 mount hole. The clear Fresnel lenses are in good condition, with minor chips and scratches.
Each Fresnel lens is 5.5 inches high. This double light weighs 11.4 pounds. We have left this light in the unwired condition that it came to us in. To access the interior, on the top or bottom, loosens the screw and slide the lid off.
